Hosts Recommend – Our Highlights & Excursion Tips
Steinzgeralm – Authentic Alpine Charm & Grand Views

The Steinzgeralm is one of our absolute favorite destinations for a half-day excursion. It has been owned by the Passler family for generations and hosts our young cattle in summer, grazing on the lush mountain pastures. From here, you not only enjoy a magnificent view over the valley but also experience the authentic alpine atmosphere: fragrant meadows, peacefully grazing cows, and the fresh mountain air. Additionally, after a beautiful hike, you can treat yourself to homemade delicacies when the alm is open.
The trail starts from Antholzer See, passing through forest and alpine meadows to the cozy alm at around 1,894 m – ideal for families or anyone who wants a relaxed hike during their vacation.
The alm is currently open, and Patrick Passler looks forward to your visit.
Stallersattel & Barmer Hut – High Alpine Panorama Experiences

The Stallersattel is a breathtaking mountain pass connecting the Antholz Valley with the neighboring Defereggen Valley and serves as a starting point for impressive high alpine hikes. From here, trails lead into the wild Rieserferner Group, ideal for day trips with spectacular mountain views. Particularly popular is the ascent to the Barmer Hut, a mountain refuge at around 2,600 m, where hikers are rewarded with magnificent views after a challenging but worthwhile hike. The route passes sunny alpine paths, the picturesque Obersee, and offers continuously fascinating vistas of the High Tauern and Dolomites.
Lake Circuit – Nature Trail and Panorama at Antholzer See

The circular trail around Antholzer See is a true gem for all visitors: it is family-friendly, stroller-accessible, and can be comfortably walked in about 1.5–2 hours. The lake itself shows turquoise-green water and an impressive mountain backdrop. Along the way, information boards explain flora, fauna, and geological features, making this walk both educational and relaxing.
Rieserferner Hut – Pure High Mountain Atmosphere

For experienced hikers, a trip to the Rieserferner Hut is a real highlight. The hut sits high in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park and offers a classic mountain experience among rugged rock formations and fascinating glacier views. The hike features alpine character and varied trails – perfect for anyone who wants an intense nature experience.
Earth Pyramids – Fascinating Natural Wonders in the Puster Valley

A little further away, but absolutely fascinating, are the Earth Pyramids near Platten and around Bruneck, a geological natural monument and popular excursion destination in South Tyrol. These bizarrely shaped earth columns have formed over millennia through erosion and appear like natural works of art. Especially recommended for families or photography enthusiasts, this walk uniquely combines natural history and landscape.
Plätzwiese – High Plateau with Views & Sunrise

The Plätzwiese is one of South Tyrol’s most beautiful high plateaus and a dream location for day trips or extended walks. It is especially admired for its wide alpine meadows and breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. A magical spot to experience the sunrise. Whether for photography, gentle hikes, or simply relaxing: Plätzwiese is an essential highlight of the region, sure to delight every nature lover.
